Who we are
Pelagonius is a small family of vet practices which combines the old fashioned values and culture of looking after our pets and owners, with the more modern values of looking after our team (and I dont just mean Pizza or yoga when we are stressed);.
Because Pelagonius is owned and run by vets (rather than a large corporate structure) we understand WHY you entered the profession, what your frustrations are, and how you want to provide a better service – we have the same thoughts and beliefs as you.
Steven Goodear BVSC MRCVS
CEO and Founder
Steven has been a vet for more than 25 years, with clinical experience in both general practice and emergency clinics around the UK. He has a passion for creating veterinary practices and teams and helping them grow into Awesome practices, having grown vet practices from scratch (both gp vet and emergency clinics), as well as taking over the running of existing practices.
He believes there is a large and essential space in the veterinary world for veterinary teams that combine the passion for treating and healing pets (which is why we all started in this profession !), with the efficient running of a veterinary business – developing the non-clinical sides of our teams, helping them to enrich their mindset and be able to face the inevitable ups and downs of this amazing profession.
Claire Goodear BVetMed Cert AVP MRCVS
Head of Finance
Claire is a vet with over 20 years experience working in mixed practice and general da vet practice, along with managing one of the countries busiest emergency vet clinics. She has acquired further certification in Advanced Veterinary Practice and is currently undertaking further advanced study in Veterinary Dentistry. Along with a business partner, Claire also runs a busy and thriving small animal practice in Derbyshire, where the team is passionate about their flexible working environment that works for the modern vet. Claire is our Head of Finance, responsible for producing P and Ls for our practices, along with cashflow forecasts and budget forecasts.
Luna
Head of Happyness and Team Culture
Luna has a crucial role within Pelagonius. As the company Labrador, Luna is responsible for maintaining the positive and thriving mindset that we value. She does this by always providing an empathetic ear at all times. She encourages us to get out and maintain high levels of Oxytocin (also known as walkies). She is an incredibly valuable member of the team, and has taken it upon herself to undertake the burdensome tasks of being chief food tester and pre-washer of dirty dishes.
